About Matt Senecal

I began my career in building working side-by-side with my father in Oxford, Maine, and completed my first independent building project, a garden shed, when I was twelve years old.  At age twenty I
started my own business and over the years have built many homes, commercial buildings and additions.  I take pride in earning my client’s respect and in providing services and products of the highest quality.

Since 2000, I have been actively pursuing education in green design and building.  I am a member of a pilot program for LEEDS to become a LEEDS certified builder. I see building as a way to connect the past, the present and the future.  We build upon our knowledge of historically good construction techniques, using present technologies to assure that our buildings will stand well into the future, having as little detrimental impact on the natural environment as possible.  I take to heart the words of the Native American proverb – “We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.” – and strive to create buildings that will use resources wisely and well.

My wife Nancy and I live in mid coast Maine, where we enjoy camping and fishing with our two sons and our black lab, and will soon begin construction on our own green home.
